3 Ingredient Chocolate Puff Pastry Rolls

All you need to make these rolls is three ingredients. Yes that’s right, three ingredients! This is the most simple dessert one can possibly make and yet it is so delicious. You can probably already guess that chocolate and puff pastry are two out of the three ingredients, and that’s right. You can buy optional puff pastry (gluten free, diary free, vegan, whatever really) and then fill with your favorite chocolate. Serve with ice cream while it’s still being warm, and then you’re done! You, you better make this!

This is super simple to make

I didn’t make my own puff pastry this time. Yes, I said it! I bought a vegan and gluten puff pastry, for a super cheap price in a supermarket, added some chocolate and butter to it and created these amazing rolls. In that way, this can truly be one of the most simple recipes EVER! You can either use a puff pastry that is cut into smaller squares from start, or use a sheet of puff pastry and you cut them into squares yourself. One sheet of puff pastry (which is almost the size of a baking sheet) gives you 6 servings of this dessert I’m going to show you. But if you want to cut them into smaller squares you can absolutely do that too.

You can use optional chocolate BUT…

You fill the pastry with optional chocolate but I recommend choosing something that melts in a nice way. It can be just ordinary milk chocolate, baking chocolate or chocolate with runny fillings like caramel or toffee. I don’t recommend you to use chocolates filled with “dry” ingredients like nuts or biscuits.

THIS RECIPE IS:

  • Gluten free (if using gluten free pastry)

  • Super simple to make

  • Great for both kids and adults

  • Delicious

  • most delicious to eat whole being warm

  • Can be served with vanilla ice cream or possibly whipped cream on the side

Chocolate Puff Pastry Rolls

INGREDIENTS:

1 sheet of puff pastry

100-150 g optional chocolate

3 tbsp melted butter of choice

HOW TO MAKE:

  • Heat oven to 225 degrees C (437 F). Line a baking sheet.

  • If your puff pastry is very thick, start by rolling it out, making it thinner, using a rolling pin first.

  • Cut the sheet in half first, crosswise, and then another two cuts lengthwise making the sheet into 6 quadratic, smaller sheets.

  • Cut your chocolate into a long bite, that is approx 4 squares of chocolate, and place the chocolate in the middle of the small quadratic puff pastry.

  • Fold one side of the pastry over the chocolate, and then fold over the other side. Flip the whole roll so that the opening is turned downwards.

  • Brush on some melted butter and place the chocolate puff pastry roll onto the lined baking sheet.

  • Place in the oven for approx 10’ or until golden brown.

  • Serve, preferably while being warm because that’s when the puff pastry is still crispy and the chocolate melted, with some ice cream on the side if you’d like.
