How do I make a Buddha Bowl?
Buddha Bowl Deluxe, coming your way!
This bowl is just fantastic, simply filled with fresh ingredients, colors, flavors and different textures. But what is a buddha bowl? Buddha bowl is a dish - and instagram trend - that have become instagram famous the last years. There aren’t really that many rules when making a buddha bowl. The purpose is actually that it should contain as much nutrition as possible from various ingredients. Buddha Bowls are most often vegetarian or vegan, and have various layers of ingredients I want to discuss.
How do I make a Buddha Bowl?
THE LAYERS OF A BUDDHA BOWL:
Grains. You can choose to have brown rice, bulgur, wheat berries, quinoa or something else, to mention a few. The important part is to choose a grain - or carb source - that gives you lots of satisfaction. Often fibers are equal to satisfaction, so I’d recommend choosing a carb source filled with fibers. (PS. I chose sweet potato though, as my carb source in this buddha bowl).
Vegetables. Think freely here and use various vegetables in different colors, flavors and textures. Cut, slice, cube or circle the vegetables into different shapes so that your Buddha Bowl get a more appealing look.
Protein. Now it’s time to add the protein source, and as mention before it should preferably be a vegetarian or vegan source. Use peas, beans, tofu, soy products, quorn, tempeh or possibly fish or sea food like for instance smoked salmon.
Dressing. What is a bowl without dressing? Very boring. The dressing is like the dot over the i; taking your buddha bowl to a whole new level. Be creative and dare to try out new flavor combinations from for instance chili, garlic, balsamic vinegar, honey, herbs or so.
Seeds. Garnish with various seeds, for instance sesame seeds or pumpkin seeds.
Bonus. Last but not least, add a big BONUS. It can be a big slice of avocado, an avocado rose, a omtag rose, a boiled egg or something in your own flavor. Your decide. Be creative!
OTHER TIPS FOR YOUR BUDDHA BOWL:
Preferably use locally produced or organic ingredients for your Buddha Bowl so that you give your body the best ingredients and so that the Buddha Bowl should be more “correct”.
When making a Buddha Bowl, it’s perfect to take advantage of various leftovers in your fridge, or using ingredients (fruits and veggies) that are damaged or are starting to look a bit sad.
