Christmas Porridge with Passion Fruit, Pomegranate and Almond Butter
Baby It’s Cold Outside
December without a Christmas porridge is not possible and that is the reason why I today want to show you all this cozy porridge while it’s cold and dark outdoors. And except for showing you this breakfast, I also want to talk about… Christmas fruits! Because even though it’s winter in my country (Sweden) during Christmas, it doesn’t mean we don’t have fruits that aren’t associated to Christmas. Apples, pomegranate, orange, clementines and lingon berries are just a few fruits that are associated and often used to Christmas desserts or Christmas styling and crafts of various kinds, and I’m using a few of these to my breakfast today. It’s important to keep adding vitamins and fresh fruits into your diet during the winter time too, and not stop just because “fruits doesn’t taste as good” as they, yes, often do during the rest of the year. That is the reason I recommend you to pick fruits that are in season (and not pick for instance… strawberries when it’s winter) so you at least get a chance of eating more delicious fruits. Not speaking of it being more sustainable to pick seasonal fruits at the same time too.
Today’s breakfast is simple and I have used passion fruit and pomegranate as fruits for it. They suit fantastic with my Christmas porridge which basically is oats boiled in almond milk with a little bit of agave syrup for sweetening and gingerbread spices for flavor. Except for the fruits I have also garnished my porridge with raw almond butter, almonds, cinnamon and almond milk.
What are you eating for breakfast this time of the year?
