Pizza Bianco in two simple vegetarian ways

Pizza Bianco x 2 2.JPG

Pizza - the only love triangle I want.

A long time has passed since the last time I ate pizza. I ended up making some pizzas today and these are really simple, delicious and also a rather cheap recipe to make. Do you want to know what is the difference? You use tortilla bread as the crust. You don’t need to wait for hours to bake the pizza dough and struggle with various fermentation. You should really taste these tortilla pizzas. They’re so good! It’s perfect for a ladies night, a Netflix and pizza evening, or just something to eat when you are feeling for pizza and want it done quickly

What do we use for the crust?

You can use optional tortilla bread for the crust; ordinary made on wheat, wholemeal, gluten free, made on lentils, beans, corn or you name it. Take what ever you like and which suits your possible diet, allergies or intolerances, and thereafter it’s time to just garnish with various toppings.

What is a pizza Bianco?

This time we have skipped the tomato sauce and made it “pizza Bianco”. Bianco means “white” in Italian and is exactly what it refers to - that the base of the pizza is white. You usually use a white base; either sour cream, ricotta or artichoke cream as the base, and thereafter garnish with various toppings.

I have made a vegetarian version with sour cream, three different kinds of cheese, garlic, lemon zest and chili flakes, and another one with sour cream, mozzarella, yellow cheese, mushrooms, red onion, black olives and fresh basil. This is so good, and pizza Bianco is here to stay.

Pizza Bianco in two different ways

For two pizzas

INGREDIENTS PIZZA 2

1/2 dl full fat sour cream (vegan option works too)

1 small pressed garlic clove

1/2 dl mozzarella

1/2 dl optional yellow cheese (like gouda)

4 mushrooms

Some slices red onion

A few black olives

A little bit of sea salt

Fresh basil

A few drops olive oil

INGREDIENTS PIZZA 1

2 tortilla bread of optional kind

1 small pressed garlic clove

approx 1/2 dl full fat sour cream (vegan option works too)

1/2 dl mozzarella

1/2 dl optional yellow cheese (like gouda)

1/2 dl grated parmesan

A little bit of Sea salt

Chili flakes

HOW TO MAKE IT

Heat oven to 200 degrees C.

Let’s start with the first pizza

  • Prepare your first pizza by combining the sour cream with the pressed garlic. Spread this on the first tortilla bread.

  • Grate your yellow cheese and parmesan and spread it over the sour cream. Cut the mozzarella in thin slices and place them on top.

  • End with a little bit of sea salt and chili flakes.

On to the second pizza

  • The second pizza: combine the sour cream with the pressed garlic. Spread this on the second tortilla bread.

  • Cut the mushrooms and the red onion in thin slices and place them on the sour cream in layers with sliced mozzarella and grated yellow cheese.

  • Slice the black olives and place them on the pizzas. End with sea salt.

  • Bake both pizzas in the oven for approx 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

  • Before serving, spread some fresh basil over your second pizzas.

  • Cut into slices and dig in!
