Whipped Feta Cheese

Watch me whip. Watch me nae nae.

If you are like me and are kinda overconsuming dips like hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki etc, then I can happily announce that we have a new recipe to our “dip family”. This dip is seriously so so good, and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t made this before. Shockingly, you only need two simple ingredients to make this fantastic dip. Thereafter you can garnish it in optional kind of way. You all, this is my whipped feta, or xtipiti as we say in Greek, and I’m so excited to share the recipe with you all!

We do have this whipped feta in Greece too, and we do have many similar recipes also! We have something called “tirokafteri”, “tirosalata”, “kopanisti” and “xtipiti” in Greece. These are four different feta cheese dips, that all are very similar in many ways - but yet they are so different and people often mix these ones up.

The one I’m making is rather basic and is only based on yoghurt and feta cheese, is whipped and this one is the one which we in Greece call “xtipiti”. There after you can add various flavors to it, but the basic recipe is called xtipiti. Today I’ve garnished it with a rather simple Greek salad and O M G.

THIS RECIPE IS:

  • Vegetarian

  • Simple to make

  • Only consisting of 2 ingredients

  • Perfect dip as a side dish to mains, or when want to snack on veggie sticks, pita bread etc

  • Luxurious and festive

  • Greek inspired

Without and with topping.

Whipped Feta

INGREDIENTS:

150 g Greek feta cheese

50 g Greek yoghurt

+ Olive oil for garnishing

HOW TO MAKE:

  • Simply put the feta cheese and the yoghurt in a blender. Mix thoroughly for approx 2’ until the dip is completely creamy and lump free.

  • Serve on plate and ripple over some olive oil.

  • If you want to, you can also garnish with a small Greek Salad of tomato, red onion, Greek olives, sea salt, oregano and olive oil. IT’s very beautiful.
