Luxurious Sourdough Toasts with Hummus-Cherry Tomato-Basil or Creme Cheese-Grilled Asparagus-Balsamico

Let’s make a toast for these toasts!


Gotten tired of your cheese toasts and want to level it up a bit? Make my sourdough bread toasts with hummus, cheery tomatoes and fresh basil, or vegan creme cheese, balsamic and grilled asparagus. O M G. This was like toasts made in heaven for real. Flavor, color and texture combinations all on point!

Sourdough toasts

INGREDIENTS:

2 slices of sourdough or wholemeal bread

Olive oil

3 asparagus 

2 tbsp of vegan creme cheese with herb flavor 

Some creme de balsamic 

approx 4 tbsp homemade hummus (recipe here)

2 cherry tomatoes

Fresh basil

Sea Salt and/or herb salt



HOW TO MAKE:

  • Slice two slices of your bread. Roast the bread in a bread roaster or grill the bread slices in a grill pan.

  • Ripple over some olive oil on both bread slices.


  • Rinse the asparagus and trim off approx 2 cm of the woody ends. Cut the remaining asparagus into smaller pieces.

  • Heat a grill pan (a regular frying pan works too) with some olive oil or vegan butter. Grill the asparagus with some sea salt until soft and they have gotten som color.


  • Make the hummus after the recipe here, and spread out a layer on one of the pre grilled bread slices. Slices the tomatoes and place them on top of the hummus. Garnish with some finely chopped fresh basil, ripple some olive oil and finish with sea salt and/or herb salt.

  • Take the other bread slice and spread out a layer of vegan creme cheese on top. Garnish with the asparagus and finish with some rippled creme di balsamic vinegar and sea salt/ herb salt.
