Smoothie Bowl with Blueberry Chia Jam, Oat Yoghurt, Spearmint and Agave 3.JPG

Forever chasing the sun. And smoothie bowls…

There aren’t many days left until we finally can welcome real summer again. I always tend to eat more smoothies during the summer time of the year, and I have to say my smoothie mixer has been out and used plenty of times lately. I can’t wait to make myself a bowl of these smoothie bowls, go out, only wearing shorts, a top and sandals, while eating this bowl in the sun. No, I can’t wait for real summer!

Simple smoothie bowl

Today I thought I should show you a simple delicious smoothie bowl. It’s really nothing complicated to make, and then you just garnishing with various nice ingredients like chia seeds.

But what is chia jam?

Chia jam is so simple to make. IT’s a jam made with chia seeds, and my chia jam doesn’t even consists of any sugar. This means that this jam is sugar free, vegan and gluten free. Delicious too ofc! You don’t have to boil it or anything either, so you can easily prepare this in the morning and top your breakfast bowl with smoothie or porridge, or your toast with it. It’s delicious!

THIS RECIPE IS:

  • Vegan

  • Gluten Free

  • Sugar Free

  • Delicious

  • Healthy

  • Simple to make

Simple Smoothie Bowl with Chia Jam

INGREDIENTS:

Smoothie:

approx 1 dl frozen blueberries and/or raspberries

1 big frozen banana

2 tbsp vegan protein powder with vanilla flavor*

approx 1/2 dl vegan milk of choice

Chia jam:

3 tbsp chia seeds

1 dl water

approx 1 tbsp agave syrup*

approx 5 tbsp frozen but thawed, or fresh, blueberries

a pinch of real vanilla

HOW TO MAKE:

  • Chia jam: combine the chia seeds in a bowl together with the water. Let it set in the fridge for 10’ so the water is absorbed and a gelé looking mass is created.

  • Meanwhile, mash or mix your blueberries with a little bit of agave syrup and vanilla (+ possibly just a little bit of water).

  • Stir down this blueberry mixture with the chia seeds thoroughly. Pour this blueberry jam into a glas jar with lid and store in the fridge until you want to eat it.

  • Smoothie: Simply add all ingredients into a smoothie maker. Mix until completely lump free and creamy. Add more liquid if needed.

  • Serve the smoothie and garnish with the chia jam and if you want to, organic banana, a little bit of vegan yoghurt, sesame seeds, coconut flakes, fresh spearmint and just a little bit of agave syrup.

*NOTES:

  • If you don’t have any vanilla protein powder home, you can exclude that and possibly just add a pinch of real vanilla instead.

  • You can change the blueberries into pretty much any berry you want; like strawberries, raspberries, wineberries etc. Be sure you just change the sweetening depending on what berry you pick because all berries aren’t the same sweet.

  • If you don’t have agave syrup and aren’t vegan, you can change to honey instead.
